Bill Foraker
All Quail Creek residents know how much talent and experience there is among our neighbors. We have over 70 clubs now and we stay pretty busy. I no longer fly, but I still work at airshows around the country and stay involved with the aviation community. I know we have lots of former pilots, flight crew members, mechanics, air traffic controllers, and others here who were knee-deep in aviation at one time. So the question is in the title.
If you think yes and might be interested, let Bill Foraker (me) know at flyinsob@gmail.com or at 812-878-0587. If we get enough interest, we could get one going and share stories and information.
On a side note, there is an active group in Green Valley called the Aero Club of Ariz. This group meets on the second Friday of each month at the conference room in Continental Plaza. There are speakers each month and the coffee and donuts are free to members. The gathering time starts at 9:30 a.m. and the meetings start at 10 a.m. We’re always done between 11 and 11:30 a.m. Our speakers have been current and former military and civilian pilots, aviation company owners, and several folks from DM and the Boneyard. Annual dues are $25 and the contact is Bill should you want more info.
Also nearby, the Air Force Association has a Chapter in Tucson, Chapter 105. They also meet monthly, usually for lunch in Tucson. They also have great speakers and work with personnel at DM for a variety of events. As you would guess, Bill is also in that group too, so ask him if you’d like more info or you can check out the Chapter at: https://tucson.afa.org.
And if you’re still reading, there will be a great movie coming out in theaters in May and streaming on the popular services on Veterans’ Day. It’s entitled 10 Good Men and is a documentary about B-17 crew members in World War II. As part of the movie, they interview 10 World War II B-17 crew and two of them are from Ariz. One lives in Green Valley and the other in Tucson, and they both still work at the 390th Museum in the Pima Air and Space Museum. This promises to be a very informative and entertaining movie. You can find more about it at: www.10goodmen.com.
Over and out.
