Democratic Club of Quail Creek Women In Blue Luncheon

Lois Connell

On April 25 women in the Democratic Club of Quail Creek (DCQC) participated in the Women In Blue luncheon, which was attended by 35 women and held in the home of Jeanne Buell. The group allows like-minded women to gather in a neutral setting.

Perri Jones spoke to the gathering about the Andrew Out of Darkness fundraiser walk, scheduled in Quail Creek on April 27, 2024. The fundraiser was to benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. For more information about the foundation, go to afsp.org.

Karen Logan spoke about issues regarding climate change and ways in which people at the grassroots level can take steps to help mitigate the effects in our area.

There was also an update on the status of the asphalt plant planned by Vulcan. Luncheon participants were pleased with the news that the Township had denied the company’s request to build the plant. The restriction was imposed on the property itself, meaning that even if the property is sold by Vulcan, new owners would be prevented from moving forward on the same or similar projects on that location.

The Women In Blue Luncheons are held on the fourth Thursday of each month. The gathering on June 27 will be held at Grill on the Green. Vanessa Bechtol, democratic candidate for County Supervisor, will be the guest speaker. Check What’s Happening and the newsletter of the Democratic Club of Quail Creek for updates.

DCQC meets the third Saturday of each month at the Kino Center at 3 p.m. All residents of Quail Creek are welcome to attend.
