Mary Darling—Request To Speak
On Feb. 11 the Democratic Club of Quail Creek (DCQC) had a special meeting. Our guest speaker, Mary Darling, is a successful businesswoman. She has been active in the Mohave County Democratic Committee, the Santa Cruz County Democratic Committee, and the Arizona Democratic Party.
Ms. Darling gave a detailed presentation on the online tool called Request To Speak, or RST. The tool empowers voters to provide ongoing feedback to Arizona State legislators during legislative sessions. Users can indicate approval, neutrality, or disapproval of pending bills and add comments if they choose. We can also request an opportunity to address legislators in person in Phoenix while the legislature is in session.
Included was a step-by-step explanation on how to enroll in RST and navigate the options. Mary answered questions from the participants and afterwards met with several people individually to help with specific issues. She made it sound easy, even compelling, since it gives a voice to Arizonans throughout the state.
Voters interested in learning more should bookmark the AZ Legislative webpage www.azleg.gov. Sign into the RST at apps.azleg.gov/Account/SignOn.
Women In Blue Luncheon
The Women In Blue luncheons provide an opportunity for like-minded women to gather in a social setting. The second gathering of 2025 occurred on Feb. 27 at the home of Margaret Maytag. More than 50 participants from Quail Creek and Green Valley attended. The guest speaker was Sahuarita City Councilwoman Debbie Morales who gave an update on city projects and activities.
The next luncheon is scheduled for March 27 at the home of Lois Connell. The guest speaker will be Theresa Walsh, a retired U.S. Army Colonel and currently chair of the Cochise County Democrats.
