Twelve members of the Democratic Club of Quail Creek (DCQC) met at 8 a.m. on Oct. 24 to put on safety vests and gloves. They proceeded to Old Nogales Highway and cleaned up their designated mile stretch of the highway.
The club has been doing this since March 3, 2021, after being given an “Adopt-A-Roadway” permit by the Town of Sahuarita Department of Public Works. DCQC is one of five Quail Creek groups that participates in the Adopt-A-Roadway cleanup.
The DCQC crew is assisted by John Garcia from the City of Sahuarita. He supplies the equipment, bags, and pickers and then carts away the garbage that is collected from both sides of the road. Every three months, DCQC volunteers donate their time to serve the community in this endeavor.
DCQC is committed to contribute to the community through events such as road clean-up campaigns. In November the club supported and contributed to the volunteer efforts of the Community Food Bank/Green Valley of Southern Arizona and The Animal League of Green Valley (TALGV).
Past recipients who have received monetary donations and in-kind contributions from the members of the Democratic Club include Friends in Deed, Genesis House, Habitat for Humanity, Sister Jose Women’s Center, Sahuarita Food Bank, and Catholic Community Services of Southern Arizona.
DCQC works together with others in our community to “make Southern Arizona a safer, kinder, better place for all of us.”
