Celebrating America at July’s Pickleball Social

Roxanne Housley, Social Chair

The Quail Creek Pickleball Club’s Social Committee hosted a social for 72 players on July 1. Before play began, three ladies, Betty Rongner, Debi Gutknecht (playing the autoharp), and Debbie Nelson, sang “America the Beautiful,” and then everyone joined in singing “God Bless America.” It was a very patriotic day filled with lots of red, white, and blue. Play began at 7:30 a.m., so light refreshments were served instead of a meal. Bill Foraker provided a mix of patriotic music, along with other favorite selections. Two board members, Doug Christy and Dave Mungo, played in the social, while Michelle Skoglund and Shireen Kolarik took pictures and videos. The next social will be held in the fall when the temperatures drop a little bit.

Social Committee members attending were Wendy Turley, Madelyn Witt, Bobbi Jo Blythe, Barb Ware, and Yo-yo Ehrmentrout.
