Melani Caron
This year marks a special professional milestone for me—it is my 15th year of holding the Certified Manager of Community Associations (CMCA®) credential through the Community Associations Institute (CAI).
For those who work in the community association industry, managing a homeowners association is about much more than overseeing budgets, maintenance, and day-to-day operations. It is about serving people, supporting the community, protecting property values, communicating effectively, and helping create neighborhoods where residents are proud to live.
Earning the CMCA credential was an important step in that professional journey. Maintaining it for 15 years represents an ongoing commitment to professional education, ethical practices, and the communities and homeowners we serve.
Community associations face an ever-changing landscape. From evolving regulations and financial responsibilities to maintenance challenges, homeowner communications, vendor relationships, and long-term planning, effective association management requires knowledge and continued professional development. The CMCA credential has provided a foundation for meeting those challenges while continuing to learn and grow within the profession. Over the past 15 years, that commitment has included staying current with industry practices, expanding professional knowledge, and applying those lessons to the everyday needs of homeowners and communities.
At its heart, association management is about people. Every community has its own character, priorities, challenges, and goals. The role of a community association manager is to help the board and homeowners navigate those differences while keeping the community’s governing documents, financial responsibilities, maintenance needs, and long-term interests in focus.
The past 15 years have provided countless opportunities to work with board members, committee’s, homeowners, vendors and industry professionals. Each experience has reinforced the importance of communication, accountability, professionalism, and service.
Thanks to all of you—the homeowners, guests and renters within the community. I truly enjoy my role as the General Manager of Quail Creek.
CMCA® is a registered certification mark of the Community Association Managers International Certification Board (CAMICB).
