If you were unable to attend the Book Club’s January gathering you missed the Lion in the Lei Shop by Kaye Starbird, which, in addition to being an interesting read, also produced some lively discussion. The selection for February, Still Alice by Lisa Genova, is an engrossing story of a highly successful Harvard professor who, at only 50 years of age, must confront the ravages of Alzheimer’s in her own life while struggling to understand and maintain some concept of who she is. Her undaunted spirit along with the love and care of her family enable her to be Still Alice for as long as possible. The group will meet to discuss this gripping book with its all too timely subject material on Monday, February 3 at 7:00 p.m. in the Gold Room. Guests and potential new Book Club members are most welcome to join us for the meeting.
