The Quail Creek Billiards Club (QCBC) hosted their In-House 10-Ball Tournament on Aug. 3 in the Billiards Room at the Madera clubhouse.

Fourteen QCBC members attended to play the challenging game of 10-Ball. The winner was Tommy O’Dierno. Second place went to John Andersen. Mike Ohrel facilitated the event.

Due to the number of players competing, single-elimination matches were held, a format where each player is guaranteed to play at least two games in a match before being eliminated. Some of the matches needed to be adjusted, as handicaps were implemented for a few players.

Both O’Dierno and Andersen went undefeated in the first three matches, moving them into the playoffs where they faced each other. It was a close match, but O’Dierno came out on top. Congratulations to first-place Tommy O’Dierno and to runner-up John Andersen, both of whom are familiar with playing in the final matches of the QCBC tournaments.

O’Dierno’s win had special meaning to him, as he used the cue stick of former QCBC member Richard Brown who passed away this spring. Brown’s wife Peggy had given O’Dierno the cue stick. O’Dierno was able to win and honor the memory of his billiards friend.

The in-house monthly tournaments are held on the first Saturday and are open to the men and women of QCBC. The next tournament will follow the BCA 8-Ball format.
