Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum

Joyce Shumate and Linn Myrick

Interested in cacti? Why is there a desert here? We are excited to announce a special event for our Let’s Travel Club members and the entire Quail Creek community! Mark your calendars for Friday, Oct. 17, as we will be hosting a distinguished educator from the renowned Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum’s Community Outreach Program.

This month’s Let’s Travel Club meeting promises to be an unforgettable experience, featuring a presentation, “Seasons of the Saguaro: An Introduction to the Sonoran Desert.” Focusing on the iconic saguaro, we will explore the key features that define the Sonoran Desert, the strategies animals and plants use to thrive in this environment, and the seasonal cycles that make this desert unique around the world!

This is an exceptional chance to expand your knowledge, foster a deeper appreciation for the natural world, and engage with an expert in the field. Don’t miss out on what promises to be an enriching and enlightening 45-minute presentation!

Please note that a $5 per-person fee is kindly requested to defray the cost of our speaker’s stipend.

After the presentation, there will be a sign-up sheet available for Let’s Travel Club members who are interested in participating in a day trip to the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, organized by Linn Myrick. It is scheduled for Monday, Nov. 17.

Let’s Travel Club meetings are held on the third Friday of each month at 2 p.m. in the Kino Center’s Ocotillo and Mesquite Rooms. Meetings are open to all Quail Creek residents. Hope to see you there.
