The 6th Annual Valley Assistance Services (VAS) fashion show and luncheon will be held on Friday, July 18, at Desert Diamond Casino. The event, Active Mornings & Glamorous Evenings, will feature Summit Hut from Tucson and Nancy Pantz in the Continental Plaza Shopping Center. Summit Hut specializes in fashions and gear for active adults. Nancy Pantz offers numerous “country club casual” outfits.

Doors will open at 11 a.m. and lunch (Caesar salad, pistachio and pepitas-crusted breast of chicken, and dessert) will be served at noon. Iced tea is included, and there will be a cash bar with a wide variety of adult beverages. The cost of admission and lunch will be $45, cash or check, payable to VAS. Those who purchase tickets at the VAS office may also purchase tickets using a credit card. Make sure you save the ticket. On the reverse is a coupon for $20 that can be used for any of the performances at the Community Performance & Arts Center (CPAC) for the next year.

There will be a silent auction featuring over 100 prizes for the highest bidders. Prizes will include spa packages, golf, jewelry, accessories, artwork, pet supplies, wine, food, and lots of gift cards for entertainment and services.

This fundraiser will directly benefit families and individuals in need of support in VAS’ rural 2,700-square-mile service area extending from Sahuarita to Rio Rico and Arivaca. More than 7,000 people in our community will benefit from the proceeds of this event through the following programs: visiting nurses who provide health and wellness advocacy and post-hospital discharge support; volunteer drivers who transport clients for medical visits, grocery shopping, and other needs; fall prevention; financial assistance for mortgage/rent/utilities and financial education; workforce training that includes resume writing, career search, computer lab, and job interview coaching; federal and state benefits advocacy; dementia/caregiver support and illness/disease education; volunteer-led senior peer groups; and coming soon, telemedicine in rural areas.

We have set a goal to raise $10,000 at this fundraiser. Your attendance will help us reach that goal.

Tickets may be purchased at VAS, 3950 E. Camino del Heroe (in the Springs HOA); Green Valley/Sahuarita Chamber of Commerce; Posada Java; and Nancy Pantz. They may also be ordered from Quail Creek resident Peggy McGee, 520-207-6188/positivelypeggygv@gmail.com.
