On Feb. 22 women from the Democratic Club of Quail Creek (DCQC) participated in the Women In Blue luncheon held at Mario McGee’s Pizza. The group allows like-minded women to gather in a neutral setting. There were two guest speakers, Alexa and Gina from Genesis House, also known as Hands of a Friend, located in Green Valley. The facility provides housing and other services to people escaping domestic abuse. Participants at the event brought in-kind items and cash contributions to donate to the facility.

The next Women In Blue gathering is scheduled for Thursday, March 28, at the home of Lois Connell. Check What’s Happening and the newsletter of DCQC for details.

DCQC has also hosted opportunities for all Quail Creek homeowners to sign nonpartisan petitions for initiatives to be added to the ballot in the 2024 election. The two petitions addressed Safe Abortion Access and the Right to Self-Organize, also referred to as Collective Bargaining.

The last DCQC meeting, which was held on Feb. 17, was attended by a large crowd in the Ocotillo and Mesquite Rooms. Many had not attended a DCQC meeting before. Attendees came to hear Terry Sayles give a presentation on extreme politics founded in spiritual warfare. The audience responded with questions and discussion.

The attendees were also introduced to Kimberly Lisk, a Quail Creek resident who is running for the office of Council Member for the Town of Sahuarita. The primary election for this nonpartisan position will be held on July 30.

DCQC meets on the third Saturday of each month at the Kino Center at 3 p.m. All residents of Quail Creek are welcome to attend.
