PAG President, Debi Gutknecht, and Treasurer, Sandi Hrovatin, present a check to Sahuarita Marching Band Director, Saul Garland.
In May, the QC Performing Arts Guild (PAG) performed their spring play “Farce of Nature” to an enthusiastic audience. Thank you to everyone who attended the show. Your attendance allowed us to donate the show’s net profit of $3,000 to the Sahuarita High School Marching Band.
The Sahuarita Marching Band was selected to represent Ariz. in the Salute to Independence Parade in Philadelphia on July 3 celebrating the 250th birthday of America. The trip represents a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the students to perform while also visiting historical sites and New York City. Instrumental music director Saul Garland emphasized the profound impact the trip will have on the students beyond the parade route itself.
“It’s such a huge honor for us to be representing Ariz. and representing Sahuarita on this kind of national stage. But I also know on top of that, the history and the culture they’re going to get to engage with is going to be something they take with the rest of their lives,” Garland said. However, getting the crew of 116 staff and students across the country is no easy feat. He expressed immense appreciation for all the local support they received to cover the costs of the trip.
The PAG will present a fall play, a Christmas choral concert and a spring play this year. Look for more information about upcoming events in QC Crossing articles and What’s Happening announcements.
