Having a Block Party? Here’s Your Checklist for Success!

Daryl Laux

Spring is a perfect time to build community, and one great way to do that is by hosting a unit block party. These events welcome new neighbors, say goodbye to winter visitors, strengthen connections, and create a true sense of community.

Below is the information the POA needs to help keep everyone safe and well informed for a block party.

1. The organizer(s)/contact person(s) for the event. Names and contact information.

2. The overall plan, i.e., what type of event, unit, and streets involved, etc.

3. The event start and end times including setup and teardown.

4. All outside vendors, including food, port-a-potties, other amusements, etc. For food vendors, you need their Board of Health food service permit, their Town of Sahuarita business permit, and their insurance certificates.

5. The parking control plan is to leave 20 feet open on every street for emergency vehicle access. If you plan to block off streets, what is the emergency access plan?

6. The trash control and disposal plan, if needed.
