Tucson Sun Tran’s “Learn to Ride” Summer Sessions

Joyce Shumate

Let’s Travel Club’s May meeting will be on May 29, two weeks after our usual third Friday of the month, at the same place and time. The Tucson Transit community outreach manager, Luz Navarrete, will tell us all about the three ways to get around Tucson without driving: Sun Tran, Sun Link, and Sun Van.

Sun Tran’s learn to ride summer sessions are here and ready to help you get moving. Whether you’re new to transit or just need a quick refresher, these free, in-person trainings make it easy to learn the basics, ask questions, and feel comfortable using Tucson’s transit system.

During these hands-on sessions, you’ll learn how to plan your trip, read bus schedules and maps, what to do when boarding, riding, and exiting, how to use accessibility features, and how to use the transit app.

Learning to ride transit in Tucson opens the door to independence, confidence, and connection. In this training, participants will learn to plan their own trips, read schedules, and navigate the system with ease. We’ll walk through how to travel through downtown using the Sun Link streetcar, explore key destinations, and practice riding skills. We’ll also show how regional connections work, including how to take the Sun Shuttle from Green Valley into downtown Tucson. Whether you’re new to transit or just looking to build confidence, this training will help you get where you want to go.

Mark your calendar for Friday, May 29, at 2 p.m. in the Kino Center’s Ocotillo, Mesquite, and Saguaro rooms. Open to all QC residents and guests. Hope to see you there!
