Celebrating the Secret Sauce of Unit 11!
Carole Berg
Welcome back to our lively series celebrating the beating heart of Quail Creek—its units! Each one is a little world of neighbors, friendships, and fun. This week, we shine the spotlight on Unit 11, nestled along the upper south side of Quail Range Loop between Cowboy Canyon Drive and Coyote Golf Course hole number 3, just south of Unit 8.
Meet the wonderful team keeping Unit 11 connected and thriving!
Cathy Zach moved to Quail Creek in 2020 from Tucson, previously residing in Denver’s Highlands Ranch area of Colorado. After retiring in April of 2023, she accepted an invitation from the ever-resourceful Bill Foraker to become the Unit 11 rep—a sweet deal that famously included one of the Coffee Shop’s great cinnamon rolls while learning the ropes.
Their first unit gathering, a festive Christmas party, sparked a warm tradition of community fun. Since then, Cathy and her team have established a monthly lineup featuring bocce ball tournaments and a Ladies Luncheon and Open House. Their most recent luncheon at Wisdom’s drew an impressive number of new faces and plenty of enthusiasm—perhaps a hint that another one should be on the calendar soon.
And behind every successful rep is a great support crew. Cathy is fortunate to have the dynamic team of Karen and Tom Murray, along with tech-savvy Laura Marchetta, helping her support the 119 homes in Unit 11. Karen and Tom journeyed from Seattle to Chandler before settling into Quail Creek’s sunshine and stepped in with the simple goal of supporting Cathy and getting to know their neighbors. Tom was eager to add a spark of fun and help energize Unit 11, one of the community’s more seasoned neighborhoods. Together, the Murrays bring warmth, enthusiasm, and a welcoming spirit to every activity.
Unit 11 is always open to fresh ideas, new participants, and friendly faces. If you live in Unit 11, consider joining in at the monthly gatherings or offering your own ideas. You never know—your presence might be the highlight of someone’s day.
Unit Rep Club Welcomes a New Rep and Two New Co-Reps
Carole Berg, Publicity Chair, QC Unit Representative Club
The Unit Representative Club of Quail Creek gathered on Nov. 18. We were thrilled to welcome our newest rep for the new Unit 27: Sylvia Arnold! If you know Sylvia, give her a high five for stepping up as one of our Golden Unit Volunteers. And if you’re in Unit 27, keep an eye out for her friendly face! While the unit is currently still in the build-out phase, it will quickly grow to 130 homes. Sylvia will be needing some savvy co-reps very soon!
And we were so pleased to announce two new co-reps: Tino Gagliari of Unit 8 and Bob Auflick of Unit 16W. These co-reps are the instigators, supporting and providing the needed extra help to keep the fun going, and they deserve high fives for stepping up into the Golden Unit Volunteers!
Not sure what a unit rep or a co-rep does? In short, they help keep our “mini neighborhoods” (known as units) connected, informed, and thriving. They welcome new residents, share important updates, deliver the annual Source Book and map, and spark fun social activities. Plus, they meet every other month to exchange ideas that make Quail Creek an even better place to live.
The 2026 officers leading the way are as follows: Chair Bobbi Gordon, Vice Chair Martha Love, Secretary Joan Brown, Adjunct Publicity Chair Carole Berg.
Primary or co-reps are needed for Units 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 12, 13, 14A, 14B, 15, 18, 21A-Homes, 21A-Villas, 25A, 27, 30/30A-E, 32, 33A-Homes, 33A-Villas, 33B-Homes, and 33B-Villas. It doesn’t take much time, and it’s a wonderful way to meet neighbors and give back. If you own a Villa, we’d especially love for you to consider stepping in. Villas now have their own reps to focus on their unique needs.
And if you don’t know which unit you reside within, just give a call to Member Services with your address, and they will be happy to enlighten you!
Want to learn more? Reach out to Bobbi Gordon at ogbg@sbcglobal.net. Better yet, come join us at our next meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 20, at 3 p.m. in the Silver Room at the Madera clubhouse.
Come be part of the fun—your neighborhood will thank you!
