November Hot Dog Shoot

November Hot Dog Shoot winners

Jack Mercer, President Emeritus

The November 2025 Hot Dog Shoot conditions could have been worse. It didn’t rain, but the wind was a different story. The direction was erratic. It was gusting from 8 to 13 mph, pushing our .14 to .25 grain pellets in unexpected directions. It was difficult, to say the least.

With that said, Terry Wiest, shooting in Unlimited Class, shot a perfect score of 250 on his first card in the 25 Meter event. He went on to shoot the highest scores in the 75 Yard and Chicken Little silhouette events for three Gold medals. Heartiest congratulations to Terry for his outstanding performance!

In the Open Class competition, Jack Mercer was the high medalist, with a Gold in the Chicken Little and Silver in the 25 Meter and 75 Yard. Anita Teschek won Gold in the 25 Meter, Silver in Chicken Little silhouettes, and Bronze in the 75 Yard. Jim Graham, in his first Hot Dog Shoot, won Bronze medals in the 25 Meter and Chicken Little. Good start, Jim!! Ben Spencer, a guest from Phoenix, won the Gold medal in the 75 Yard event.

Then there was the Springer Class, with two stalwarts, Bron Greenwood, our outgoing Competition Committee chair, and Rocco Colicchia, QCAGC president, battling the wind. Bron was the medalist, with Gold medals in the 25 Meter and 60 Yard events, and Rocco with a Gold in the Chicken Little.

In spite of the tough conditions, I think everyone had a good time. The shooters taking advantage of Patrick Shely’s tutoring performed well. The hot dogs were great, and the cookies were outstanding. Everyone pitched in to set up and take down the canopies and keep the event on schedule. Thanks to all shooters and volunteers for another successful Hot Dog Shoot!
