September had the Nurses of Quail Creek gathering at beautiful Desert Meadows Park in Green Valley. Dean Curd, president of the GVR Tai Chi Arts Club, shared the basic principles of Tai Chi and gave a small demonstration. Tai Chi is a gentle, low-impact activity involving deliberate, flowing motions while focusing on deep, slow breaths. A small group of our nurses joined in and then concluded the morning with coffee, breakfast, and great conversation at La Posada in Green Valley.
This month we are reading The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. It is a historical fiction novel by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows. It is inspired by the true history of Guernsey Island, which was occupied by German soldiers during World War II. We will meet on Tuesday, Oct. 21, at 3 p.m. at the home of Janine Baxter (1486 E. Dahlia) to briefly discuss the book but to also enjoy the movie of the same name. Popcorn and candy will be served.
As always, we want to make sure to invite all nurses in the Quail Creek community to join us. We are always welcoming new members. There are no membership fees. We typically meet once a month, and nurses can participate in any and all activities that are of interest to them.
