Quail Creek’s Got Units!

Move over, Hollywood—Quail Creek has its own cast of stars. They don’t walk red carpets, but they do roll out the welcome mat, serve up potlucks, and keep our neighborhood humming with fun. Yes, friends, I’m talking about our fabulous units!

When my husband and I first drove through Quail Creek, it was love at first sight—we knew we belonged. But what makes this community even more special are the little “mini-neighborhoods” within it, called units. Each unit has about 100 homes, so you can think of them as the friendliest block parties you’ve ever been invited to.

And because I’m a word nerd, here’s a juicy tidbit: “Unit” comes from the Latin “unus,” meaning “one.” It’s also the root of “union” and “unity.” Fitting, right? Because when you live here, it’s impossible not to feel like one big family.

But wait—there’s more! Each unit has its very own Unit Rep (think of them as fairy godmothers and godfathers with clipboards). Their mission? To greet new neighbors, share the inside scoop on gatherings, and sprinkle a little extra magic on our sense of belonging.

So, who’s the dream team keeping all these Reps organized? None other than an Executive Committee of three powerhouse leaders: Bobbi Gordon (Unit Rep Club chairman), Martha Love (vice chair), and Joan Brown, (secretary). I had the chance to sit down with them recently, and let me tell you, their stories are as delightful as their smiles.

Bobbi moved here from Colorado 13 years ago, and rumor has it the snow had something to do with that decision. She dove into being a Unit Rep because she loves supporting her neighbors and was rightly picked for her new appointment as Unit Rep Club chairman (she steadfastly recruited me!).

Joan swapped Flint, Mich., for QC sunshine four years ago. She started as an Assistant Rep, stepping into the newly formed role of Unit Rep Club secretary when the Unit Reps became an approved QC chartered club in 2024. Joan believes the club is essential in keeping our community engaged, active, and healthy.

Martha is the newest to QC, moving from San Marcos, Texas, just two years ago. Surrounded by snowbirds, she wanted to connect with year-round folks, too, so she stepped into the Unit Rep role before joining up with Bobbi and Joan as vice chair of the Unit Rep Club.

So, here’s the scoop: Quail Creek’s not just about golf, pools, or sunshine. It’s about people. It’s about neighbors who become friends, dinners that turn into memories, and everyday moments made brighter thanks to the women who volunteer as Unit Reps.

Quail Creek has units, but what we really have is unity. And, honestly, that’s the secret sauce that makes life here so darn special.

Stay tuned—next month we’ll be shining the spotlight on one of our busiest, most buzzing units!
