Tennis Club Annual Party: Margaritaville Magic!

The Quail Creek Tennis Club’s annual party brought Margaritaville to life on April 5 at the Madera clubhouse Copper Lounge where more than 90 members gathered for a night of tropical fun and festive flair. Many embraced the theme, donning island-inspired attire. One even had a parrot perched on their shoulder all night (who, by all accounts, had a grrreat time). A highlight? The bold T-shirt worn by a certain board member that proudly proclaimed: “I Am the Woman to Blame!”

Club President Rick Wade kicked off the evening with a warm welcome and shout-outs to the many achievements of our members. A special recognition went to resident pro Donna Yuritic whose Tennis 101 program boosted club membership by an impressive 30%.

Board member and tournament organizer Dave Sypkens awarded trophies to the recent Men’s and Women’s tournament champions. Congratulations to Jean Henry and Phyllis Seeger on the women’s side and to Dave Sypkens and Jerry Gunn for the men’s title.

The event was made possible by our dedicated Social Committee: Hilary Wade, Joy Olson, Sandy Hirdes, and Dinah Shumway, who orchestrated a spectacular evening. From the delicious tropical buffet by Chef Aris to the themed décor and music by Will Foraker, every detail brought the island vibes. And, yes, tennis players can dance—and dance they did, right up until Quail Creek’s version of “Closing Time.”

How did the night end? With Jimmy Buffett’s “Margaritaville,” of course. Perfect!
