The Women of Quail Creek’s (TWOQC) On-the-Go group hosted a fantastic tour of the historic Fox Theatre in downtown Tucson. The outing’s leaders were Karen Conroy and Darcy Siegfried. The two-hour tour, led by Director of Education Jordan Wiley, took the group through the theater’s 95-year history, which included its roles as a vaudeville theater, as Tucson’s classic Movie Palace, and as the Saturday morning Mickey Mouse Club.

From 1999 through 2005, the Fox Theatre closed for a $14 million renovation and restoration. This led the theater to be listed on the National Register of Historic Places, due in large part to its unique Southwestern art deco décor.

We all enjoyed Jordan’s incredible wealth of knowledge. Getting inside peeks at the Green Room backstage, as well as the Donor’s Lounge, made this a particularly special event. We even got to see John Wayne’s very own designated seat!

The tour was followed by a yummy lunch at The Monica restaurant, conveniently located across the street.
