The Quail Creek Library at the Madera clubhouse convened for its annual meeting on Jan. 15 at 1 p.m. in the Kino Center.
The QC Library is running well and thriving, with books, jigsaw puzzles, DVDs, audiobooks, and magazines constantly being donated, borrowed, and returned. All items are donated by residents, and that is the beauty of it.
It continues to be a destination in Quail Creek that all residents appreciate. Even some longtime residents finally discover the secrets of its success: It is easily accessible, and books and other items can be borrowed and returned at one’s leisure.
The QC Library continues to be supported by the POA board and Robson. Attending was former POA board member Jeff Krueger who was the liaison between the library and board for many years. He continues to give support to the library. New POA board member Wayne Stadnik was there to learn about how the library operates and how to offer his support.
More than 22 current library volunteers were present, as well as 10 other residents. The annual meeting attracted quite a few new residents. Five of them signed up to become volunteers.
QC Library Co-chairs Alphie Smith and Carolyn Good greeted everyone and conducted the meeting. They gave an overview of the past year and went over updated shelving guidelines for all items, including books and jigsaw puzzles.
Other members of the Library Management Team, Larry Thomson, Phil Geddes, and Wayne Sorlie, gave their reports. Carol Ann Gaither joined the Management Team for 2025.
The QC Library is unique because it doesn’t monitor items that come and go and because it has relied on long-term, dedicated volunteers who keep the library orderly and manage the flow of books.
If you are a new resident of the Quail Creek community, congratulations! You found Quail Creek, but you also found an unexpected amenity and treasure—the Quail Creek Library at the Madera clubhouse. All of you make it the special place it has become.
