Nurses Put a ‘Cap’ on 2024

Janine Baxter

The Nurses of Quail Creek ended their year with a holiday luncheon on Dec. 8 at Stables Ranch Grille located in Tubac Golf Resort. In addition to a great venue, food, and company, those who still possessed them wore their nursing caps and/or nursing pins. Each attendee, in turn, shared about their nursing school days, as well as reminisced about their most memorable patient while in school.

Also, once again this year, the nurses chose a charity to donate to. Leading up to the holidays, the group generously donated to Emerge Center Against Domestic Abuse. Emerge provides services and resources to families in our community to support them in rebuilding their lives free from abuse. Toys, diapers, underwear, and toiletries, as well as cash donations, were given in abundance.

Next up was Nurse John at Fox Theater in Tucson on Jan. 10. It was a great night out with dinner and a play. There will be a meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 18, at the Kino Conference Center conference room starting at 5:30 p.m., followed by drinks and dessert at the Grill at Quail Creek.

Speaker Mary Chernoski of The Friends of Sahuarita, a local historian, will share about our transformation from a once-sleepy agricultural, ranching and mining community into a bustling suburban area. There will be stories from the late 1800s to the present.

Lastly, we want to make sure to invite all nurses in the Quail Creek community to join us in 2025. We are always welcoming new members. There are no membership fees. We typically meet once a month, and nurses can participate in any or all activities that are of interest to them.
