The AARP Tax-Aide program is looking for volunteers who are interested in preparing 2024 income tax returns for local area residents. The service offers free tax preparation to local residents on Wednesdays and Fridays at the La Posada campus starting on Feb. 5 through April 11. Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Tax preparation experience is not required, but one must be comfortable with using a computer. In-person training is offered in Tucson in January and can also be accomplished online. To be certified by the IRS, individuals must pass two IRS open-book tests with a score of 80% or higher. New tax preparers will initially be paired with experienced preparers until they are comfortable working alone with clients.
