DCQC Program with Brian Johnson and Gabriella Cazares-Kelly

Lois Connell and Alphie Smith

On Aug. 17 the Democratic Club of Quail Creek (DCQC) hosted a program at the Kino Center for Brian Johnson, candidate for Pima County Treasurer, and Gabriella Cazares-Kelly, incumbent candidate for Pima County Recorder.

Mr. Johnson brings 14 years of experience working in county governmental offices. He gave a detailed presentation on steps he would take to improve the functioning of the Treasurer’s office. These include upgrading the data system and stronger interaction with other county offices, such as the Assessor, the County Recorder, and the County Finance Department. Mr. Johnson observed that these were not quick fixes but could be resolved comfortably within the four years of the term. He offers a prosperity initiative, accountability, and accessibility as the benchmarks of his campaign.

Ms. Cazares-Kelly is the present Pima County Recorder and is running for re-election. She gave a brief history of the challenges of that office and the success she has had in addressing those challenges, especially in dealing with the barriers that prevented people from voting. She strives for more accessible voting so that no one is disenfranchised. Through her vision and transparency, Ms. Cazares-Kelly will continue to deliver for Pima County and the community.

On Sept. 21 at 3 p.m., DCQC will host a Countdown to Victory/Candidates Forum in the Madera Clubhouse ballroom. Democratic candidates will be present. All Quail Creek residents are invited to come. Appetizers and a cash bar will be available.
