The Quail Creek Quilt Covey had a unique opportunity this spring. One of our members volunteers in a kindergarten class at Sahuarita Primary School. The teacher loves to involve community members in her classroom, as well as help her students learn about their community. Since the students learn about one letter of the alphabet each week, the letter “Q” quite naturally revolves around the word quilt. It was decided that the class would make a quilt with the help of the Quilt Covey member. Besides learning about quilt making, the project also gave the class the opportunity to discuss giving to those in need.
Each child created a quilt block by drawing themselves using fabric markers. The words on the block say, “From: [child’s name]” and “With [the children drew a heart to indicate the block was made with love].”
The Quilt Covey volunteer made them into a quilt, which will be donated to Ronald McDonald House.
