A Presentation on Ranked-Choice Voting Highlights the Republican Club Meeting

Petitions to place an initiative on the November ballot to establish ranked-choice voting in Arizona are circulating throughout the state. Joel Strabala visited the QC Republican Club on May 17 and gave compelling testimony on the multiple issues surrounding ranked choice voting. He urged everyone to do their research prior to signing a petition.

Two Republican candidates running for office in the July 30 primary election also spoke at the meeting and presented their qualifications for office. John Backer is running for the District 2 seat on the Pima County Board of Supervisors. John is a resident of Madera Highlands and is a U.S. Air Force veteran. He currently serves on the Town of Sahuarita Planning and Zoning Commission and serves as the chairman. He has previously served on the Board of Adjustments Commission for Pima County District 4. He is committed to bringing fiscal integrity and common sense to Pima County government.

Heather Lappin is a Republican candidate for Pima County Sheriff. She has been with the Pima County Sheriff’s Department for 19 years and currently serves as the East Section Commander at the county Adult Detention Center. Prior to her current position, Heather served as the Training Section Commander overseeing training programs for commissioned and corrections personnel, including firearms, academy, and advance officer training. She will bring strong law enforcement back to Pima County.

The Quail Creek Republican Club has educational and fun activities planned for June. The ever-popular Lee Cornelison Summer Kegger will be held on Friday, June 21, from 4:30 to 7 p.m. in the Madera clubhouse. Attendees will enjoy a pulled pork menu while candidates for office circulate throughout the room appealing for your primary support. We will also have a fun straw poll on Trump’s VP choice. Reservations may be purchased either by check or credit card just by visiting the website at www.quailcreekrepublicans.com. Another opportunity to hear from other candidates will be at a special meeting of the Quail Creek Republican Club on Friday, June 28. Senate candidate and current Pinal County Sheriff Mark Lamb, U.S. Congress District 6 candidate Kathleen Winn, and county Board of Supervisors candidate Beatrice “Cory” Stephens will join us. Don’t miss these opportunities to be a well-educated voter.
