Free training in hands-only CPR and the use of an AED will be offered in the Ocotillo Room in the Kino Conference Center starting in late June.
According to the American Heart Association, “Studies have shown that hands-only CPR is just as effective as conventional CPR with breaths when given in the first few minutes of a cardiac arrest.” And “Receiving immediate CPR and an electric shock from a defibrillator are the key drivers of survival ….”
According to the Mayo Clinic, “Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) after cardiac arrest can keep blood flowing to the heart and brain for a time. But, often, only defibrillation can restore the heartbeat. Together, these treatments can improve the chances of survival.”
Learn how to perform life-saving hands-only CPR and how and why to use an AED (Automated External Defibrillator). Sponsored by The Women of Quail Creek with the training offered by the Greater Green Valley Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), this free training takes only 60 minutes of your time but could mean the difference between life and death for someone in cardiac arrest.
This is an American Heart Association course for those who do not need a CPR certificate. Check What’s Happening for class dates. To sign up for the training, complete the Contact Us form on CERT’s website ggvcert.com.
