The season-ender meeting and party at the home of Nancy Katzberg in early May featured a catered meal to celebrate Cinco de Mayo and music by Will Foraker. The May meeting and party signifies the end to a season and a brief summer hiatus for the monthly meetings, but activities continue throughout the summer.

Some of the highlights of the season included a Golf Cart Scavenger Hunt organized by member Liz Ashby. Those who participated had a great time searching and videotaping a list of to-dos. Lee Parks led the winning team! A group of singles made it back to a previously closed Penca restaurant in downtown Tucson and provided lots of favorable comments. Brother John’s Beers, Bourbon and BBQ was the St. Patrick’s Day destination. Tohono Chul’s Jazz Under the Stars and the Raptor Free Flight at the Desert Museum were a couple of new outings. Greg Seyk, a Singles Club member and museum docent, led the Desert Museum tour and knew just where we needed to stand to get the best view of the birds. Angie Gilliam hosted the Kentucky Derby event at her home again this year with great hats, mint julips, and a rose-decorated golf cart! We’re trying some Tucson restaurants for the first time in the coming weeks and months. Kingfisher is known for its seafood, flown in daily from both coasts, and Piazza Gavi promises a unique Italian atmosphere, “like a little taverna in Italy.”

Monthly and weekly activities continue. You can enjoy a monthly movie outing, music, and dancing at the Grill or dinner at the QC Grill. There is monthly golf, weekly bocce ball, and a new event just announced—billiards! There is something for everyone, and you never have to do anything by yourself.

We’re a growing club attracting many new single members each season. Our purpose is to provide social opportunities for singles that are enriching, fun, and engaging—with matchmaking neither discouraged nor encouraged. The focus is on group recreational, educational, and cultural activities, which typically include dining out, house parties, sporting events, fine arts performances, dancing, discussion groups, holiday events, golf, and other suggested activities of interest to the members.

There is no fee to join. To join, simply email Pat Colburn at [email protected] or Nancy Katzberg at [email protected] to be added to GroupWorks. Once you’ve been added to GroupWorks, you will receive notification of all upcoming activities via email and will be able to RSVP for any event of your choosing.
