On Oct. 16 Bill Sheppard, president of the Quail Creek Men’s Golf Association (QCMGA), and Terri Bacon, president of the QC Ladies Golf Association (QCLGA), organized and held an inaugural Battle of the Boards event for members of their boards and committee chairs, along with committee members, to play a stroke golf match against one another, followed by drinks and lunch at the Grill.
The ladies won the stroke portion of the event, scoring 17 fewer strokes. The head-to-head matches turned out to be a tie, with the ladies winning six matches, the men winning six matches, and the two remaining matches were tied. Each QCLGA member was matched up with a QCMGA member who had the same board and committee positions, which made for a fun way to share and compare what each of the member’s responsibilities are and perhaps share some great ideas back and forth.
Many thanks are in order to Harvey from the Pro Shop and Regina from the Grill management for allowing us to play this event with a shotgun start and for the setup for players to sit together in the Grill. Thanks go out to Bill Sheppard and Terri Bacon for putting together this event. Bill and Terri would also like to thank everyone who participated and look forward to next year.
This event was a lot of fun, and all participants voiced a definite thumbs-up for continuing this annually!
