On April 6 John Murphy presented a very beneficial dissertation to the Writers and Poets Club on researching background reference material for nonfiction writing, with a caveat to limit the collected data, as too much information could distract from the subject being presented. His presentation material can be helpful to writers of fiction as well. More information about this session can be found on the QCWAP.org website under “Presentations.” John, a retired science educator, has published several books on herpetology and can be followed on his website serpentresearch.com.
Our April 20 meeting, led by Paul Riggins, was devoted to discussing the club’s proposed summer project: creating and publishing a book of stories about our pets. This subject has endless possibilities, and it will be interesting to see where it leads. This idea has evoked many reactions among the club members, and it will be interesting to see where it goes.
The Writers and Poets Club meets the first and third Thursdays of every month from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Quail Creek conference room. Please join us.
