Newly elected United States House Representative Juan Ciscomani, who represents Quail Creek in Congressional District 6 in Arizona, was the featured speaker at the April 21 meeting of the Quail Creek Republican Club. A capacity crowd in the Ocotillo and Mesquite Rooms in the Kino Conference Center greeted Rep. Ciscomani with a big round of applause. He presented his goals for our district, including securing the Southern border, fiscal discipline, and taking care of our veterans. Rep. Ciscomani is the first freshman congressman appointed to the extremely important House Appropriations Committee. New House Speaker Kevin McCarthy also requested that Rep. Ciscomani sit on the Veterans Affairs Committee. Shortly after his swearing-in ceremony in Washington, D.C., Rep. Ciscomani had the honor of giving the Republican response to President Biden’s State of the Union Address to the American people in Spanish.
Rep. Ciscomani fielded many questions from the enthusiastic audience and was interviewed by Univision immediately following his address to the QC Republican Club. Rep. Ciscomani was a frequent visitor to Quail Creek during the 2022 campaign and emphasizes the importance of our club members to his successful election last November. His election flipped the District 6 seat in Arizona from Democrat to Republican and was instrumental in securing a Republican majority in the U.S. House of Representatives.
John Backer, a resident of Madera Highlands in Pima County District 2, also attended and addressed the crowd. He announced his candidacy for the Pima County Board of Supervisors.
The QC Republican Club continues to grow, adding 10 new members over the past month. The next club meeting is on Friday, May 19, at 9 a.m. in the Kino Conference Center. Our guest speaker is morning radio host Chris DeSimone. Chris is the host of Wake Up Tucson, which airs from 6 to 9 a.m. on station KVOI 1030 AM. Also, mark your calendars and “Save the Date.” The QC Republican Club Lee Cornelison Kegger will be held in Quail Creek on Friday afternoon, July 28.
