Custer and the Little Big Horn Fight
The memorable fight in Montana territory occurred June 25, 1876. The defeat of Custer and the Seventh Cavalry by the Sioux and Cheyenne ranks as one of the most significant and controversial events in Western history. Local historian and author Scott Dyke will present a step by step analysis of the battle that changed the course of history of the American West.
Dyke is well known concerning his knowledge of Tombstone and Wyatt Earp. He has been published in several internationally known magazines like American Cowboy, Wild West and the Epitaph, as well as authoring a newspaper column Meandering the Mesquite. His western history research has been exhaustive and includes extensively walking and examining the ground of the Little Big Horn battlefield.
“Historians are still debating what happened there,” Dyke commented. “I have read and met most of them and have some thoughts of my own. The discussion will examine every angle of the fight and flesh out the major participants. “This fight forever changed the impression of U.S. Army invincibility,” Dyke added. “There is a lot to grasp when it came down to what Custer knew and what he did not and what his actions did or did not do to contribute to the outcome.”
Tickets are $6 at Concierge. Seating is limited and on a first come basis. The Battle of the Little Big Horn presentation is open to the public. Watch the What’s Happening for ticket sales date.
