Monday, April 25, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. in the Madera Clubhouse Crystal Ballroom, Quail Creek Wellness will present Taylor S. Riall, MD, PhD, Chief, Division of General Surgery and Surgical Oncology, Professor Department of Surgery and Vice Chair for Quality and Performance.
Taylor S. Riall, MD, PhD is Professor and Chief of the Divisions of General Surgery and Surgical Oncology at the University of Arizona, Banner-University Medical Center in Tucson, Arizona. She joined the faculty after 10 years at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. Her clinical expertise is in general and pancreaticobiliary surgery, including pancreatic and periampullary cancer, acute and chronic pancreatitis, gallstone disease, gastrointestinal cancer, appendicitis, hernias and other minor general surgical procedures. She is also Vice Chair for Quality and Performance within the Department of Surgery. She has extensive expertise in comparative effectiveness and health services research. Her research has focused on the quality of cancer care and the care of surgical patients. Dr. Riall has been instrumental in developing and implementing critical pathways to streamline care, improve outcomes and decrease cost of patients undergoing pancreatic, gallbladder and colorectal surgery. She is using her expertise to position the Division of General Surgery/Surgical Oncology to transition to a model of evidence-based, personalized health care delivery.
Dr. Riall is a certified professional coach (CPC) trained at the Internal Coach Federation accredited Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching (iPEC). Her long-term goal is to use these skills within the surgical environment to create a culture that achieves high performance through well-being, allowing surgeons to better deal with stress of their environment and achieve their highest potential.
