Theme chosen for TWOQC baby shower for military families

Read Me a Story—has been chosen as the theme of the fifth annual baby shower for military families sponsored by The Women of Quail Creek. The shower, scheduled to take place in June, has become one of the club’s more popular events meant as a means of showing support for service women and men. Participating prospective parents must be either currently active in the military or the spouse of an active member. According to Pam Rodgers, chairperson of the event, 21 moms have already signed up to attend the shower. Participation is limited to 25. Many of the moms, 11 of those signed up so far, will be pulling double duty as both mom and active member of the military!

Pam’s committee is excitedly planning the event and outlining their calendar for soliciting donations, collecting items for totes and baskets and packing up the many gifts that will be transported to the Air National Guard for the shower. The Baby Shower Committee is an active group of TWOQC volunteers who are always happy to have more help. Volunteers who attend the shower in June must have participated in regular committee meetings and be members of TWOQC.

TWOQC has begun collecting contributions of handmade and new baby items for the shower. It takes a lot of newborn baby essentials to fill the totes and baskets for each mom, so the club is hoping the Quail Creek community will again be generous with their donations. Appropriate layette items include baby clothes, sizes three to 18 months for both boy and girl babies. Knitted hats and booties, diapers, wipes, baby lotions, crib blankets and baby toys are also appreciated. Baby books, picture frames, strollers, high chairs and new car seats are also being sought. These will be used as special prizes during the shower.

Cash contributions are always appreciated and allow TWOQC to purchase additional necessities, such as diapers, to fill the baskets given to each family. Checks should be made out to TWOQC Charity Account. For additional information, visit the TWOQC website at womenqc.com or contact Pam Rodgers at prodgersaz@gmail.com or 520-561-7969.
