Springtime at Quail Creek is a busy time of the year for everyone, it seems! It’s certainly true for the QC golf associations. Weekly play events are nicely filled with year round residents and winter residents, plus it’s the time of year we host fantastic tournaments to entice guests to come play with us and to enjoy all that QC has to offer. Here’s a quick rundown of upcoming guest tournaments.
On March 12 the QC Lady Niners (the nine hole ladies’ golf association) is PUTT ‘N’ On the Ritz with their Invitational Tournament. The Niners, led by co-chairs Eileen Kowalk and Judy Brzinski, have invited twenty clubs from the Phoenix and Tucson areas to spend a wonderful day with perfect weather here at QC. The day will include nine holes of golf, a ladies luncheon and special raffle. Their fabulous theme includes Top Hats with Red Bow Ties with black, white and red as theme colors. This is always a popular event for all the Niners and their invited guests!
On April 8 and 9 the Quail Creek Ladies’ Golf Association (18 hole ladies’ golf association or QCLGA), will host its annual Member/Guest Tournament. This year’s theme is RazzMatazz and the ladies are looking forward to jazzing it up! Two 18 hole rounds will be played to determine the member/guest team winners, but the players will have ample opportunity for fun that has nothing to do with the competition! Chair Lynn Thomas and her committee are ready to provide an unforgettable golf event along with food, decorations and special events for both members and guests!
The Quail Creek Men’s Golf Association (18 hole men’s golf association or QCMGA), will host its annual Invitational tournament during the week of April 20th (registration begins on April 21) with five nine-hole match-play events over three days (April 22, 23 and 24) to determine the member/guest team winners. This year’s event, led by co-chairs Tom Bruno and Tom Moore, promises to be a true extravaganza of activities, food, special events, food, merchandise, food and, of course, golf! The grand finale on Friday evening will include a formal dinner with spouses and significant others – a real treat for all!
Our golfing associations do their best to showcase our community as a wonderful place to golf and to live. But they couldn’t do it without the spectacular support they receive from: Joel Jaress and the Pro Shop staff; Course Superintendent J.R. Kies and his crew; Chef Aris Cabrera, Miguel Venegas, Epi Torres and the entire Food & Beverage operation; Jim Gertz and the Community Services/Patrol staff, plus the many volunteers it takes to pull these events off!
Whether or not you are a golfer, you’re sure to see lots of visitors around Quail Creek during this time. Please do your part to be welcoming; just a wave and a smile will do nicely. You never know, that visitor could be your next neighbor! Here’s to spring!
