St. Philip’s Farmers’ Market is the in town fun weekend venue to shop for food and artisan goods. Located in the heart of Tucson on Campbell Road between River Road and the Rillito River every Saturday, it is in one of the oldest and best known weekend farmers’ market locations in southern Arizona. It is also less than an hour’s drive from Quail Creek.
Food in Root has taken over the management reins and lives up to their reputation as managing one of Tucson’s premiere farmers’ and artisans’ markets. “We have every intention of not only preserving the qualities of the market that have made it the flagship farmers’ market in Tucson for over a decade, but we are dedicated to improving the market to offer vendors and their customers a better environment and overall experience,” said one of the managers.
During Saturday market, the plaza is filled with food and artisan vendors. World class Mata Ortiz pottery from Chihuahua is vividly displayed on colorfully blanketed tables. Hand woven Zapotec rugs from Oaxaca, next to original tin work and colorful talavera greet visitors as they enter the plaza. Palm straw cowboy hats and pachuco 50s style fedoras along with edibles from the orchards and ovens of Baja Arizona line both sides of the thoroughfare and walkways.
Hours from April through October are 8:00 a.m. to noon and from November through March are 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
