Tamara Scott-Anderson, vice president of Contents Interiors, was the featured speaker at The Women of Quail Creek meeting on August 26. Tamara showed photos of a new house with no furniture for which she started from scratch for floor and wall coverings as well as furniture to emphasize how using different textures and colors can take a room from ho-hum to attention grabbing.
The second featured house had old furniture with strong sentimental value. She showed how using colors and fabrics unique to the Southwest can help these heirloom pieces blend in with other furniture and give a room that truly personal touch.
Tamara said that before starting to redesign an existing room there are three things that must be considered: hard surfaces — floors and walls — are they smooth or textured?; colors, do the new colors complement or clash with existing features that cannot be or would be difficult to change; and most importantly, personal taste. If one cannot live with designer suggestions, he or she will not be happy with the new look in the end.
In addition to being armed with new ideas for decorating their homes, attendees took home a discount coupon for products or services offered by Tamara’s company.
