Marilyn Miller
Since June 2010 The Women of Quail Creek have been clipping, sorting and sending coupons to help military personnel at a base in Vincenza, Italy. They also provide coupons to military personnel in National Guard units in Tucson. The project was the idea of member Mary Lou Kiger who organized and created a format that would work for processing and mailing the hundreds of coupons. The Connell sisters, Janet and Lois, generously offered to take over the project when Mary Lou retired. TWOQC members who volunteer each month to help are hosted at the Connell’s home where they provide great refreshments, including brownies, and socializing while clipping, sorting and preparing the coupons for mailing. The dates and times they meet each month are on the TWOQC website and announced at TWOQC meetings. There is always a need for additional helpers. If you have questions or would like more information about donating coupons or helping at meetings contact Lois or Janet Connell at 520-300-4135.
To date the value of the coupons sent total $702,291.
Thank you to the Connell sisters and the members who help make a difference for the many military families here in the Tucson area and in Italy.
