The Women of Quail Creek, TWOQC, held its annual summer luncheon on June 24, 2013 at the Madera Clubhouse Ballroom. This year’s theme was A Wee Bit of Ireland, and the ladies were festively dressed up in green and were entertained by Irish Dancers.
TWOQC coordinated this event with its annual food drive to help support the GV MOAA Military Assistance Fund and Food for Families program. This is the fifth year in a row that TWOQC has chosen this charity as its benefactor and it is always a great honor and passion for them to be able to help the many needy military families of the deployed Tucson Air/Army National Guard.
Colonel Peggy McGee, GV MOAA Chapter member and president of TWOQC, along with Marilyn Miller, first vice president of TWOQC Publicity, presented Steve Abel, Quail Creek MOAA’s charity representative, with $150.00 in monetary donations along with 113 pounds of food items. These donations were delivered to the Family Readiness offices of the Tucson National Guard on July 11, 2013.
Peggy told me she had recently visited the Air Guard and “had never seen their food pantry so depleted of food and baby items,” so this will be a welcome donation to help these families. Their monetary donations will help with the cost of the delivery of $500.00 in commissary gift cards of $25.00 each along with the donation of food items.
Colonel Peggy McGee and her Women of Quail Creek organization deserve our gratitude for their continued and generous contributions toward the Food for Families effort. Without organizations like this, along with others, the Green Valley MOAA Military Assistance program could not continue to support these deserving military families at the level we do. Thank you, Peggy, and your ladies of TWOQC.
Major Steven Abel, GV MOAA Military Assistance, Board of Directors
