Dear Crystal:
Every year in the heat of the summer, my husband threatens to take off to Alaska. Well, no more lip service from him as this year we are serious! However, we are thinking about taking a cruise and renting a motor home to explore the lands of Alaska for a few weeks. Do you have any suggestions or recommendations?
Signed: Brent and Lori
Dear Brent & Lori:
Okay, I think I have the perfect solution to escaping the heat and exploring the great lands of Alaska. As you know, Alaska cruises have long been a popular choice for travelers; however, now you can combine a cruise and motor home for an adventurous vacation experience. For instance, your travel professional can book a package to include a seven day cruise itinerary which can be combined with seven, 14, or 21 day land tours in a Class C motor home; Class C means the RV has a van chassis with five speed automatic overdrive transmission. The 23 to 29 foot RV’s sleep two to six passengers and they come fully equipped with a shower, restroom and a full kitchen with range, oven, microwave and refrigerator. There are dining and storage areas and comfortable beds and the RV’s have air conditioning and heat.
Campgrounds are reserved in advance and all campgrounds have water and electricity hookups and most have sewer hookups as well as laundry facilities. Cruise RV packages include your 12 day Gold Rush Memories tour with a cruise from Vancouver up the Inside Passage to Skagway where the RV leg takes travelers along the Alaska Highway through Fairbanks to Anchorage. Additional special member discounts are available and advance reservations are recommended. Feel free to contact me directly for rate and availability information and you, too, could be cool and comfortable this summer season exploring the vast land of Alaska.
