The Women of Quail Creek (TWOQC), long known throughout Quail Creek and the Greater Green Valley area for their philanthropic endeavors, recently started a new committee to consolidate fundraising activities within the club. Now, rather than three or four different groups competing with one another to raise money or collect prizes for their specific cause, all fundraising efforts will be guided by the Funding & Giving Committee. The committee will make recommendations to the executive board on fundraising, identifying recipients of charitable gifts based on proposals and needs assessments. Money raised in the first year will go primarily to scholarships for high school students as well as for women who are returning to school to complete education that may have been interrupted or to embark on a new career field.

In their first attempt to raise funds for 2022, TWOQC will be raffling a bronze Traeger Pro Series 575 Grill/Smoker. The grill/smoker, valued at $800, will come with a grill cover to protect it from the elements—and birds! For maximum efficiency Traeger created the original wood-pellet grill as the ultimate way to achieve a wood-fired taste. WiFIRE technology connects the grill to home WiFi and the Traeger app allows the user to control the grill from anywhere; Alexa technology allows you to do it all by voice. The Pro 575 pellet grill offers 6-in-1 versatility to grill, smoke, bake, roast, braise, and barbecue, all on the same grill. Porcelain grill grates make cleanup a breeze. With 575 square inches of grilling space, the grill/smoker can accommodate 24 burgers, five rib racks, or four chickens effortlessly.

Tickets are $10 each (cash or checks payable to TWOQC) and may be purchased by contacting Sylvia Perry, 520-396-4388, or Nancy Jacobs, 970-946-3910. The winning ticket will be drawn during the Javelina Hoedown on Oct. 9 in the Ballroom. You do not have to be present to win.

More information on the Javelina Hoedown will be provided in the August Crossing. Put the date on your calendar for a fun-filled evening of eating and dancing—and maybe taking home the Traeger grill/smoker.
