Fifteen lucky Quail Creekers will tour the Big Room at Kartchner Caverns on Wednesday, March 20. While the Throne Room is visited more often, the Big Room tour is available only part of the year because, from April through September, it serves as a “nursery” for cave bats (Myotis velifer). When the bats are not present, visitors have an extraordinary opportunity to view the remarkable formations, hear about the cave’s fauna that manages to survive in the cave’s stark environment.
