All thrills at the No Frills Member-Guest Tournament

Terri Erickson

The QCLGA held its annual No Frills Guest Day on January 9. This event welcomes members to invite golfers from around the area or good friends from near and far. It also encourages members to pair up and take part in the fun. Co-Chairwomen Francie Walker and Carol Clifford created a challenging game of golf called Partner Best Ball with a Twist. The twist was always a surprise, either counting no ball, both balls or only the worst ball on designated holes!

The day began with a 12:45 p.m. shotgun and ended with a cocktail party and announcements of winners in the Madera Clubhouse. Joel Jaress, our golf pro, led the ladies off in the morning and announced the winners in the evening. The club is most grateful for his participation. Before winners were announced, Francie Walker and President Rose Welliver presented the Hole-in-One Certificate to our latest achiever, Barb Haley, who was congratulated by all.

The Overall winners of the tournament are Sherry Courson and Sue Kanger.

First Place winners from Division 1, Flight 1 are Bessie Morris and Louise Lakatos; Flight 2 Jode McAdams and Sally Bodine; and from Flight 3 Jan Ranney and Jean Kalish.

First Place winners from Division 2, Flight 1 are Elizabeth Heintz and Susan Warburton and Flight 2 Kris Weinburg and Shirley Schultz.

The club would also like to thank the staff at the clubhouse for a job well done with open bar and delicious appetizers.
