Team members needed to help fight cancer

The Quail Creek Fights Back Relay For Life team is seeking people to join the team to help raise dollars for cancer patient programs, education, advocacy and cancer research. The Quail Creek team’s goal is to raise over $10,000 for the American Cancer Society to fund the local Look Good Feel Better (free wigs and make-up), the Road to Recovery (free rides to treatments), Patient Navigator (finding the way through the system) and other programs offered to cancer patients through the Tucson American Cancer Society office. Research dollars raised have been used for seven grants to the University of Arizona Cancer Research program.

On March 28, 2015, over 20 Green Valley/Sahuarita teams will walk a track from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. at Anza Trail School/Park in Sahuarita in honor of cancer survivors and in memory of those lost to cancer. Following the opening ceremonies the survivors, and then the caregivers, are honored with a lap around the track. The rest of the participants cheer the survivors and caregivers in a celebration of more cancer survivor birthdays. In the evening the teams walk a candlelight lap in memory of those lost to cancer.
