Lady Putters prepare for Christmas in July

Peggy McGee

With so many winter residents gone for the summer and full time residents traveling to get a break from the heat, the Green Valley/Sahuarita Food Bank is experiencing bare shelves. It’s the Lady Putters to the rescue. Giving up their fun-loving spirit for a few moments to concentrate on helping the less fortunate, the Putters will celebrate Christmas in July in conjunction with their luncheon on July 20.

Because the Food Bank can only buy food with monetary donations, members are asked to bring cleaning and paper supplies, grooming and hygiene items. It is the non-food items that often make up the larger part of one’s grocery bill. For those desiring to donate non-perishable foods, especially needed are peanut butter, canned meat and tuna and baking products.

Cash/check/credit card donations are always appreciated. Each dollar contributed gives the Food Bank $8.50 in buying power.

The Putters meet on Wednesdays starting at 8:30 a.m. for the remainder of the summer. Check-in starts at 8:00 a.m. Annual dues are $15. For more information please visit their website at www.quailcreekputters.com.
