The Quail Creek Lady Putters once again remembered the Green Valley/Sahuarita Food Bank as they celebrated an early Christmas at their holiday luncheon on December 3. Knowing there was a great need in the local area, they brought canned goods galore and specialty items like hams, cranberry sauce, yams and baking supplies. Aware that food banks are not permitted to use monetary donations to purchase non-food items, many of the Putters brought cleaning and paper supplies and hygiene items, things that often cost more than the food when shoppers go to the grocery store. With two extra-large bins filled to overflowing, their donations will definitely help the clients of the food bank stretch their grocery dollars during the holiday season.

The Lady Putters broke their record 144 pounds of groceries collected in July 2014, by donating 261 pounds in December. They also contributed $145 in cash. Executive Director of the Food Bank Mary Jane Goodrick said the Putters’ generosity will go a long way to making the holidays a little brighter for their clients.
