The January 25 meeting of The Women of Quail Creek marked the first official program of 2016 under the organization’s new Board of Directors. Taking the helm for her first monthly program meeting, President Carol Mutter welcomed those assembled and shared brief remarks about her vision for the future of the club. She encouraged members to reach out to new women in our community by inviting them to participate in our various events and projects. She also challenged members to identify any new initiatives that might speak to the mission of TWOQC: to provide a forum for Quail Creek women to participate in cultural, educational and recreational programs in a friendly atmosphere with an emphasis on supporting worthy causes of particular interest to women within the local community and beyond. Ms. Mutter also introduced and recognized the other members of the 2016 Board of Directors: Diane Quinn, first vice president Publicity; Patti Giannasi, second vice president Membership; Peggy McGee, third vice president Community Relations; Sue Ann Obremski, secretary; Nancy Wilson, treasurer and Janice Pell, Programs.

Also recognized during the meeting was the passing of TWOQC’s Founder and first President Joy O’Farrell. Joy’s enthusiasm for the organization is credited with laying the ground work to create the nearly 400 member organization of today.

Peggy McGee, who served as president of TWOQC for the past six and one half years, was recognized during a very special tribute. Peggy was presented with a handmade art glass piece crafted by one of TWOQC’s members, Ann Nease. A touching video presentation helped the audience reflect on the many projects undertaken during Peggy’s presidency and the multiple contributions to the local community that have been made under Peggy’s leadership. The gavel of the Presidency was officially passed from Peggy McGee to Carol Mutter.

Membership in The Women of Quail Creek is open to any woman resident of Quail Creek. The organization holds monthly programs on a wide variety of topics. People wanting further information may consult TWOQC website, womenqc.com.
