Mai Tais flowed and a ukulele played as 136 ladies were transported to the Hawaiian Islands for TWOQC’s Summer Luau in June. The festivities started as the women arrived dressed in tropical attire and were greeted at the door with leis. Club photographer Eileen Sykora then took their photos in front of a Hawaiian backdrop.

Sandi Beach and her outstanding decorating committee went all out, transforming the Madera Clubhouse Ballroom and tables into a vibrant Hawaiian setting. From the colorful hurricane glasses which served as party favors to the cute flip-flop cookies accompanying the dessert, they outdid themselves making the event festive.

After a yummy lunch, The Hula Sisters of Green Valley entertained with traditional hula dances, explaining the story and history of each dance. In a day filled with much laughter and fun, a highlight was The Sisters trying to teach some brave volunteers a hula. Eileen Sykora delighted the audience with her own inspired version of the dance.

Many thanks to all the special people who worked so hard behind the scenes to make the Luau special!
