TRIPS going to the zoo

Bonnie Hyra

Once again the TRIPS Committee has planned an event open to all Quail Creek residents. Twenty-four participants will have the opportunity to go behind the scenes at the Reid Park Zoo on Thursday, April 7. The Zoo Education Team will acquaint the group with what really goes on 24/7 to keep animals healthy and safe. And, of course, we will be able to feed the giraffes!

The Reid Park Zoo was officially founded in 1967, named after Gene Reid, Parks and Recreation Director. Its 24 acres are operated as a nonprofit located within Reid Park. The zoo houses 500 animals in four zones plus an aviary. There will be much to see on this interesting tour, with time to explore independently.

Registration for this trip will be at the Concierge Desk beginning March 17. The cost is $20 cash or check and includes transportation, admission, tour, feeding the giraffes and additional exploration. Lunch will be at a nearby restaurant and is not included.
