On March 20, 27 Quail Creek residents participated in a TRIPS Committee sponsored tour of Biosphere 2, which is located near Oracle. Biosphere 2 is the world’s largest laboratory for the study of earth science. Water is very important in Arizona and Biosphere 2 scientists learn how water moves through different soil systems with a close study. The docent explained that the massive enclosure is home to five ecosystems with broad interest to students from university to primary schools as well as tourists and those interested in the environment. The under the glass walking tour lasted about two hours and was about one mile roundtrip. Participants thoroughly enjoyed this educational opportunity.

Following the tour of Biosphere 2, the group made its way to SaddleBrooke Mountain Bistro for a delicious lunch featuring fantastic sweet potato fries. SaddleBrooke is another Robson property but is very different from Quail Creek. Many in the group had never been there and marveled at the dramatic scenery and open air dining areas.

The TRIPS committee plans eight all day excursions that allow for exploration of the many interesting things in southern Arizona. Upcoming events are always advertised in What’s Happening and registration is at the Concierge Desk. All Quail Creek residents are welcome. v
